Covid-19 Coronavirus – Shrewton Cricket Club

March 2020

For all involved in sport, the current situation relating to the Covid-19 Coronavirus will I’m sure be equally frustrating and disappointing. Here at the club however, we take very seriously the responsibility placed on us to prevent, or at very least limit, the onward transmission of the virus.

Symptoms and effects may be minimal for the vast majority, but this is clearly not the case for the more at-risk groups, to which we are all, in one way or another, very closely connected. The club therefore intends to fully comply with the Government’s social-distancing policy and the ECB’s directive relating to the temporary suspension of all recreational cricket.

All club activities for both Juniors and Adults have for the time being been suspended, this includes training, pre-season matches and all meetings. The Committee will continue with planning, fixture organisation and all necessary administration in order that we are best placed to hit the ground running if and when the situation allows.

We simply do not know how the current situation will develop over the coming weeks and months but we will continue to monitor in the hope that something of the 2020 cricket season may eventually be salvaged. We will keep you informed of developments as they unfold. Most importantly, stay safe, pull together and take care of friends and family in the more at-risk groups.
