Fantasy Week 1 - Second Team Lead the Charge
With a washout for the thirds and only two overs bowled in the first XI game, all eyes were on the second team on Saturday and they certainly did not disappoint. As well as coming out on top in a fantastic game of cricket (match report coming soon), the fantasy sides featuring second team stars took an early lead in the standings after the first week of action.
At the top of the table, Matt Jackson benefitted from having the two main wicket takers and sits just clear of Rich Barnett who was the only person to set Shaun Little as captain. With Matt Wood only appearing in Jacko's side, the other high flyers after week 1 all benefit from Little's hat-trick heroics.
With only 13 players taking part in game-day action across the club and on a low scoring day with the bat, the middle of the table features a host of teams very close together. A special mention goes out to Pete White's side, led by Darren Bentley, who have limped to a -10 start for the season. Better fortunes hopefully lie in wait next week and beyond.
Unsurprisingly, Shaun Little takes the lead in the MVP race with a top all round performance. Matt Wood also breaks the 100 point barrier, thanks in large part to his 3 wicket haul and despite his listing as a batsman. The bowlers are led by Pete White, with a wicket and a maiden part of his points scoring contributions.
Hopefully more action across the club next week, will availability make an early impact on the current top squads, or will a settled second team continue to dominate the points scoring charts? All remains to be seen as the other two sides hope to finally begin their league campaigns.
