Fantasy Week 4 - Hat-trick? Another one???

In a season where almost the entirety of May was lost to the weather, Shrewton Cricket Club are now in the unusual position of having had 3 senior hat-tricks and we are barely half way through the second month of the season. Following Shaun Little's effort in the second team opener and Dan Pownall's Wednesday night burglary, it was MVP contender Matt Wood's turn on Saturday, with his 4 wicket over accounting for 130 fantasy points once the hat trick bonus had been applied.

It was once again a good day to be a second team owner, with their victory providing plenty of points for lots of players. Elsewhere, it was a bad day for everyone not named Sleeman in the first team while Kenny Mundy headlined a few solid contributions from the third team. Special mention to Sean McClure who picked up the first fielding bonus points of the year, his 4 catch day behind the stumps the biggest wicket-keeper contribution of the season so far.

At the top of the table, it is a case of the rich getting richer, with Jacko and Barnett both extending their lead with the best two hauls of the week. The top two now sit over 300 points ahead of third and fourth in the table, with Matt Jackson in particular in a position where he has doubled the score of almost the entire league after just 4 weeks. Dan Bingley hangs on to the top half of the table, despite a week where his players contributed just 11 points, while Shaun Little, propelled by his own exploits on the field, moves back into a Europa League spot.

Matt Wood and Adam Battisson straddle the middle of the table, with the rest of the bottom half a lot more tightly packed than the top. Jamie Mitchell, freed up from the responsibilities of captaincy, climbs out of the bottom 4 where third team skipper Ant Robinson is still languishing over 50 points below Pete White, and a staggering 1150 points behind Jacko at the opposite end of the standings.

No change in the individual races with all 3 players significantly extending their lead at the top, but Wood does overtake Little in the overall MVP standings thanks to another great all-round performance. There are now just two sets of fixtures before the transfer window and a message from the League Chairman - players will only be eligible to carry out transfers AFTER they have paid their entry fee, so make sure you get this sorted over the next two weeks or risk your team remaining unchanged throughout the entire season!
