League and Cup action returns to the rec
Week 3 of our shortened season see’s the return of league and cup action for the 1st team. They kick off their HCB bubble’s league at home to old rivals OT’s and Romsey. The two sides have played out a number of close encounters in the league over the past couple of seasons, so this promises to be a hard fought game. There is one change to the side that comfortably beat South Wilts last week and that see’s new signing Tom Mundy come in to replace the unavailable Ollie Bate.
On Sunday we host Goatacre in the National Village Knockout, the two sides faced off in the Wiltshire Wallop semi-final last year with the Shrews coming out on top. There will be a number of different faces playing on Sunday for both sides due to eligibility and unviability, so it should still be an even encounter with both sides looking to progress on the road to lords.
Saturday also see’s the 2nd team in action away at Mottisfont, this will be their last friendly before the their bubble kicks off next week. Chris will be hoping his side can bounce back from their loss at Amesbury last week and gain some momentum moving into the league season. The two’s welcomed back stalwarts Matt Jackson and Darren Bentley and Jason Plant this week which should strengthen both departments.
Sunday see’s the 3rd XI travel to Redlynch for the 2nd friendly between the two sides this season, with the Shrew’s running out victors in the first game Redlynch will be looking for revenge this time out. The side is a mixture of youth and experience with all out to enjoy their cricket.
The bar will be open from 1pm on both Saturday and Sunday and again contactless payments are asked for.
